Our Bioinformatics capabilities
Fuad Gwadry, VP of Technology has over 15 years of experience in bioinformatics. Mr. Gwadry recently worked at the Montreal Heart Institute Pharmacogenomics Centre in Montreal, QC where he headed the development of their NGS pipeline for Illumina HiSeq. They analyzed HapMap CEU female NA12878 sequencing data generated internally using different alignment variant-calling pipelines. These pipelines were then assessed using a highly confident reference calls provided by The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Genome in a Bottle consortium for NA12878.
Prior to this project he worked on the development, implementation and analysis of NGS, and other platform, data for molecular diagnostics applications and biomarker discovery for a number of clients. For example, he was a Bioinformatics Analyst Consultant at the Sequenom Center for Molecular Medicine in San Diego, CA where he assisted in the development of a QC and analysis pipeline for their sequencing based (Illumina HiSeq) Trisomy 21 test.
He also worked as a Project Management Consultant for Strand Scientific Intelligence Inc. in San Francisco, CA where he assisted in gathering engineering requirements for the GeneSpring NGS analysis module. This included analysis of NGS data resulting from applications of the Agilent SureSelect Target Enrichment System.
With regards to cancer genomics experience he was a fellow for two years at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) within the Genomics and Bioinformatics Group of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD headed by Dr. John Weinstein (http://discover.nci.nih.gov). He developed algorithms for data analysis, pattern visualization, and literature searching for genomic, proteomic, and tissue array data. Two key publications resulted; Cancer Res. 2002 Mar 15;62(6):1688-95 and Cancer Res. 2003 Sep 1;63(17):5243-50
